1 Sam. 16:7
Being a tall guy, I sometimes get lots of looks or questions. How tall are you? Do you play basketball?
We live in a society where an emphasis on what you look like or what you wear is important.
We see commercials and magazines that promote beauty as a contest, and some people even have surgeries or injections to make themselves look more attractive.
In this verse, we see that God judges from the inside. God examines our hearts. He wants to seek the beauty of our inward appearance.
We all have heard the quote "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." As followers, we can't get caught up in the things of this world. We can't change to the world's standards. We should let God change us.
God doesn't always choose who or what we think is the most appealing choice. We can read and see the many different people God uses: David defeating Goliath. Noah building an ark. Moses leading the Israelites. The story of Joseph. The disciples Jesus called. We see that God can use anyone as long as their hearts are focused on Him.
Our idea of what we want and what He wants can differ greatly. On the outside, something or someone may seem beautiful or perfect. However, on the inside, they may be ugly and broken. Let us set our hearts and minds on Christ. He still can use people like you and me.
