Psalm 5:3
"In the morning, O Lord. You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch."
Well, August is almost here. Be sure to budget more for the AC bill. Okay, this isn't a budget message, but don't forget to do it!!! We are 5 months away from Christmas and 2015. Have you ever made a resolution at the beginning of the year? Most of the time it's to lose weight, exercise more, get some sleep, maybe even travel or go on a vacation. Have you ever made one and failed? No??? Oh...uh...yeah...me neither. We probably started off good and faltered later. Ever set any spiritual goals? Read more, grow in the Lord, serve, pray...etc?
Well here, David gives us a resolution or promise. He says "You will hear my prayer." David isn't saying, "Oh for January, I will be good." He is saying, "I will talk to you in the morning, first thing."
I admit prayer isn't high on my list first thing in the morning. I admit I hit the snooze button more than I should to get that extra few minutes (like it would really refresh me). If we seek Him in the morning, He will refresh us on His own.
I also like how he says, "I will order my prayer to you." Sounds really specific. I know at times I get lazy with my prayers. I will say, "If it's your will or desire." And there's nothing wrong with that, but it's better to be more specific. Does God know the specifics of a general prayer? Of course, but praying specifically shows more faith and usually is a more in-depth prayer.
Then David closes with "eagerly watch." Wow...The amount of times I pray and don't necessarily watch eagerly for the answer is higher than I want to admit.
Be sure to resolve your day with the Lord each morning. Psalm 88:13: "But I, Lord, have cried out to you for help, And in the morning my prayer comes before you." So let our resolution or promise to God daily be..."You will hear from me in the morning and I eagerly and faithfully wait to hear from you in a specific way."
